Finished Myth-Fits by Jody Lyn Nye. It’s the latest in the series started by Robert Asprin.
Reading Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett. I’m sensing a theme. It seemed like time for a little light fantasy back to back.
He does a good job weaving together first hand accounts to still deliver a coherent narrative about the battle. Those vignettes from the veterans he interviewed are IMO the highlight. It brings a vividness to the history. If you really like that first hand account piece you might want to check out Company Commander by Charles B MacDonald the next time you are looking for nonfiction. It’s his memoirs of being a Company Commander in 2nd Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge.
Thanks. The Acosta book sounds great, and Misery is one of my all-time favorite King books. I just re-read it a few months back.
You might also enjoy Scott Turow’s war novel Ordinary Heroes, about a US Army JAG officer who gets caught up in the Battle of the Bulge. It’s loosely tied to his Kindle County legal thrillers (Presumed Innocent, The Burden of Proof, Reversible Errors, etc.)
