California is probably the state which would suffer the least from being its own country. We have manufacturing, vast and enormously varied agriculture, fisheries, oil, water, high-tech, major universities, one of the great natural harbors of the world . . . We got your desert, temperate rain forest, chaparral, grassland, tallest mountains, lowest valley, blah blah.
And also, we’re kind of snotty about it.
