I haven’t had them, but my dad produces them and has had a lot of lithotripsies. He’s on a no-calcium, no-soy, no-other-stuff diet now. He’s been free and clear of them for the past year, so maybe things have finally settled down. It was a long siege for a while, mainly because his g.p. didn’t catch it early. Get on 'em and crush 'em as fast as possible, and I wish you the best.
Dry heaves, pain, frequent need to urinate, but can’t, back pain. Had a manipulation in hospital to remove it. Drink plenty of fluids and juices.
Year later pain around my chest and dry heaves etc, thought I had them again, nope gallstones. Guess some people just produce stones…removed gallbaldder, no problems.
Passed one in my late teens. Didn’t even know I had one until I passed it. Urinating was so painful I had to get on my knees to try to finish. Tried going just a little at a time but the pain was unbearable. I decided to suck it up and let it all out at once.
Big mistake.
The second I opened the floodgates, the pain totally overwhelmed me and I passed out on the bathroom floor. I woke up about 10 seconds later, in a daze, pants around my knees, penis feeling like it had been used as a flamethrower. I crawled to my bed and allowed my dementia to lull me back to sleep.
After reading through the many posts and doing some research online, I don’t think I have kidney stones - thank God.
But my discomfort and pain is not going away. I’m still peeing like crazy - woke up twice last night, as a matter of fact.
It genuinely feels like something around the bottom of my rib cage on the right side is swelling up and trying to break through my ribs. It gets worse when I sit, better when I lay down, and much worse when I eat.
Now I’m thinking maybe gallstones?
My doc called back with my results from the blood and urine tests. I’m not sure exactly what was tested, but everything came back negative. I’m going in for an ultrasound tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll know more then.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with me and for all the kind words.
Had a Kidney stone just a few months ago. Worst pain I’ve ever felt, and that includes Apendix out, and when I was laid out with HepA. I have my stone taped to a card, its about the size of a BB and looks like a small pillbug. (No insurance at the time, so giving it to doc would have cost money.)
Well I went for an ultrasound on Friday and as far as the ultrasound doc can see, everything looks fine.
As far as I’m concerned though, everything is far from fine. The pain is getting worse, so much so that I had to take something last night just so I could sleep. I am doing everything I can to avoid the er, but if it doesn’t get any better, I might just have to go.
for those who’ve had renal stones, you may be interested to know that someone decided to ask a group of people who had all suffered
a)kidney stones
b)heart attacks
c)sever depression
to rate the pain experienced.
guess what?
kidney stones was the worst, the severe depression and MI came in tied, a long way behind!
so, you’ve all experienced it as bad as it gets and survived, congratulations!
i was having (still do, sometimes) sharp pains in my left side on and off and went to the doctor to see what it was. he thought it might be a kidney stone, so we did the urine test, then an ultrasound, they found nothing. still dont know what it is. but not kidney stones!
some people take their kidney/gall/other -stones and keep them when they’ve passed them, go to a jeweler and get their stones put into necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc…apparantly they’re pretty.
