It would depend on the type of workplace, and how well behaved the kids would be. I wasn’t here that Saturday, but something happened Labor Day weekend which resulted in absolutly no children being allowed here anymore.
Kels, if you have clam chowder at your desk, I don’t want to be there…I don’t think that I want to know why exactly that is a bad thing either 
As for tea, you’ll just have to take over the national Tim Horton’s account and give me a ‘reason’ to be there! 
As for the OP, we love having kids at my workplace… gives us a reason to goof off for a few minutes.

Like most situations, this totally depends on the kids and the parents.
Where I work, people occasionally bring their kids to work with them. Most parents are aware that work needs to be done, and the kids tend to stay in their parents’ office, playing quietly, reading, or drawing. This kids are no problem.
On the other hand, there are the parents whose kids come in and they yak continuously, run around, and generally create a distraction. These kids (and their parents) should be disciplined! God knows, there’s enough distractions at work as it is - I don’t need loud children keeping me from getting stuff done.
As far as bringing in a newborn to show off, most people seem to like this. I say “most people” because I, for one, am terrified of newborns. I feel like I’ll break them by looking at them, and I do NOT want to hold it. I suspect this might change if/when I have children of my own. To get back on topic, I have rarely seen a newborn create a distraction. It’s the 12 people milling around the newborn who are distracting, and that’s their fault, not the kids or the parents.
