Just curious: Besides the Guide and the towel, what constitutes a Ford Prefect costume?
Yep, it’s me.
Cooooool!
We’re going as characters from Alice in Wonderland. We have an Alice, a playing card, a March Hare (that’s me), a Mad Hatter and a White Rabbit. We’re college students–gives me license to go trick-or-treating again; it’s been a couple years
(I don’t know what a Ford Prefect is!) Nice pic, though,
I am wearing my black sweatshirt to which about 15 years ago I sewed orange triangle eyes, nose and smiley mouth. Sort of a reverse jack o’ lantern.
It’s lasted 15 years because it’s worn once a year for about 10 hours.
Husband went to work as a CFO for a credit union–d’ya think anyone’ll guess it?
 From Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, of course.
Dark Side of the Floyd, GREAT pic! I love it.
Ah. A book I never read. (guess I have to, now!)

We have a “Decorate Your Cube” contest here. I have a glass fronted office; last year I did it up like Tiffany & Co. and I was Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”.
This year - I cut out hundreds of black bird silhouettes (wanna see my blisters?) and surreptitiously started taping them in growing numbers around the office floor on Thursday afternoon. By Friday AM, there were about 300 of them in my office and another 200 or so spread throughout the floor. I was Tippi Hedren in “The Birds” - complete with a birdcage, crows, tattered stockings, bloodied legs & face and tiny birds in my elegantly disheveled French twist. My glass-fronted office was painted like the lobby card from “The Birds”. People even came from other buildings on our campus to gawk.
I won second place - I think I wuz robbed.
VCNJ~
I dressed up as death, with the black fabric to cover my face and make me trip over things I can’t see. I handed out candy cigarettes and had a lighter to light 'em up. Somehow I didn’t melt my gloves.
I spent 2 weeks building a Witch King of Angmar, Leader of the Nazguls costume from “Return of the King.” Helmet, gauntlets, boots, robes sword and that huge frickin’ mace even! (I love the mace).
It’s all made out of cardboard and duct tape and I think it looks grand. Scared the willies out of many girls walking around downtown Kent, Ohio Saturday night.
I love a good scarey costume.
If I can find someone today with a digital camera I’ll post a picture.
Here’s a pic of my Supergirl costume, as promised.
I came in second in my office’s costume contest. Maybe if I’d straightened the wig I would’ve won first.
Well, I didn’t win first prize, but I did win second prize - $40.00 - not bad. First prize was a woman who (deservedly) wins almost every year. This year she was an elephant, and a very nice costume indeed!
I went as a pirate. Heck, I go as a pirate almost every year- because I’ve put together pirate garb over several years of attending the Texas Renaissance Festival, and I often put off putting together a Halloween costume until the last minute.
Part of the costume was some tights- VERY tight tights. A friend of mine said, “It takes a lot of balls to wear a costume like that, and we can all see you’ve got 'em.”
Here is a pic in better light. I think the costume came out pretty well, and all I had to do was find all this stuff in my house. Didn’t have to buy anything.
That looks great!
I posted in a related thread, but will re-hash.
My wife and I were at a clothing optional resort this weekend. Halloween is one of the biggest parties of the year in certain lifestyle circles, and this was no exception. I spoke to the bar manager on Sunday evening and he told me that at last count, 3,000 people had come through the club’s door for the party.
Fantasy Fest was largely cancelled this year in Key West due to the hurricane, so all of those people went to Caliente instead. The costumes, people, and level of … activity… was mind-boggling. We’re talking some SERIOUS adult fun. Truly one for the record books.
My costume: Black and red wings that extended about a foot above my head and trailed to the floor (I had to ditch them after a while - It was impossible to dance in them and people kept stepping on them), black leather centurion boots, black leather g-string, black leather wrist bands, leather Zorro-style whip, and a bull whip. And I was probably one of the more conservatively dressed participants.
When I pulled myself out of the hot tub at about 5:30 Sunday morning, there were still about 30 people scattered about and another 100 or so in the conversation pool.
I might not be an adult, but I cut two holes out of a white sheet and put it over my head. Literally. I’ve never seen anyone wearing that costume outside of movies and Sunday comics- it got so many laughs.
Any more photos to share? Anyone? Bueller?
Funny you should bump this, I was just going to call a freind with a digital camera to come over tonight and take a photo of me. I should be able to post it tomorrow. Wish me luck.
