Can you videotape it at all? That way, there’d be no one home, and the camera could record what happened. They might not throw stuff into the yard if they realize someone’s home is my line of thinking. How old are the kids? Are they just normal type kids, or do they seem like troublemakers? (Aside from maybe throwing stuff into your yard.)

No, here you go. Wait for a sale and you can get it even cheaper - husband and I have one that we got for 1/2 that - it’s black and white though - and it can be taped to a VCR tape. Catch 'em in the act, I say.
So I guess you’re too young for standing in the yard, shaking your cane and yelling at kids to get off your lawn to have the full effect.
As has been suggested, some camera systems are pretty cheap these days. Get proof show it to the parents and then hope they are parents that will actually do something about it.
