Killer goes free, kin takes revenge-any true stories?

I’ve heard the Jeffrey Dahmer’s killing was a hit. Apparently his killer’s families are set for life.

I reckon if you change your mindset a bit, you’d find there would be a pretty high incidence of this sort of thing occurring with gang and organised crime related violence. But that’s more ‘Killer doesn’t go free, still gets killed’

Sorry if this is now a highjack.

Like it happens in the movie’s a lot, but I also think it happens in real life. There were 2 or 3 gang related killings soon after various mob bosses went to jail in melbourne at least in the last decade here.

I wonder what the prisoner-on-prisoner murder rates are inside the US? I daresay astronomical compared to general population (proportionally)

MrQwertyasd, political jabs are not permitted in GQ (even when they don’t make a lot of sense.) No warning issued, but don’t do this again.

I don’t want to hijack the thread, and I hope I’m not making a ‘political jab’. The joke is that Saddam Hussein allegedly plotted to kill George H.W. Bush in 1993, and George W. Bush was partially motivated to start Gulf War 2 in revenge for the plot.

Durned if I can remember the cite, but a few decades back, a man was arrested for molesting a child he’d been babysitting. The police took him into custody, but Dad was ready and intercepted them at the courthouse, shooting the babysitter in the head with a handgun (this being when sneaking a handgun into a courthouse was a thing). Dad was tackled and arrested on the spot, but the babysitter died instantly.

Doesn’t exactly fit the criteria, as the babysitter was merely being taken into custody; he had not yet been formally charged, much less tried. But it sticks out in my memory because the local news media got the whole thing on video; it was one of those videos you rather wish you could unclick and unsee.

Oh, wait, here’s the actual story on Wikipedia… It was a karate instructor, not a babysitter. And Dad didn’t exactly get off scot free – he pleaded down to manslaughter and community service…

I understood the joke, which is why I issued the note. I said it didn’t make much sense because Hussein neither killed the senior Bush, nor went free on a technicality.

That’s the case that this thread was zombified to mention (in post #18).
