cygnets, unless swans are giving birth to rings or seals these days.
They sure are…sometimes old people are too.
My buddy got attacked by a swan while on a jet ski trying to get back to his beach…the swan ran into him and died. Some old lady complained and he ended up with legal fees and community service.
Yes, of course. :smack:
My local swans must be oddly tamed, as I can hand feed them, and place food near their nests. They do like to try to bite my shoes when I feed them.
I was about 10 or 12 when a friend of mine and I spotted a nest of some kind off the path at our local zoo. We hopped the split-rail fence for a closer look and found 6 HUGE eggs in a nest on the ground. Just then, mama swan came out of the brush and attacked us both. We ran for our lives, diving over the fence and running at least 100 yards before stopping and looking back. She was about 20 yards away and just fuming at us with her wings spread wide. We put another 200 yards behind us just to be sure.
As an adult, I know I can take a swan in a fight, but when you’re little? Not a chance!
Not a surprise. Remember that movie The Wanderers? The nastiest gang was the Ducky Boys.
