This gives me the idea of a sci-fi story, where technology allows the state to prosecute people based on the contents of their dreams.
But I’m sure someone else has already thought of it, so I’ll just forget it.

Many newborns entrusted to me died as a result of my negligence. About one or two a year.
I killed my father once. With an AK-47 no less. The expelled casings froze in the air, just like in a comic book.
My mother was a nursery nurse and she would neglect them during her sleep as well. I wonder if it’s an occupational hazard.
No kidding!
Ah, but the deep ones retain evidence! The shallow ones are disturbed and scattered by the wildlife.
…Do you fellas that dream about killing people sleep with anyone?
:dubious:
I had a dream a few years back in which I’d killed a woman and buried her in the back garden and we were getting ready to move house so now I was fretting about the body being discovered.
Now that was disturbing enough but the dream also managed to create a full history of recurring dreams about the same subject.
By which I mean, not only did I wake up thinking “wow that was a bad dream” I also now felt as though I’d been having that same terrible dream for years. (I hadn’t, I always tell my wife my dreams and had never mentioned this one before.
How about that? a dream so vindictive it implanted years of disturbed sleep!
:dubious:
Which bit are you dubious about?
You didn’t tell your Wife about your dream?
At least you didn’t dream of eating a giant marshmallow, like I do.
I think you misunderstood, I did tell her about the dream. We always do. That’s how I know that I only had it once even though it tried to trick my brain into thinking it was a recurring dream. She would have said “you’ve had that one before!”
It is interesting when you consider the aspect of false memoriesand you think to yourself “That would never happen I have an excellent memory and know what is real and not real” and yet you can awake from as especially vivid dream sometimes and until you get your bearings not be 100% sure you haven’t done something terrible and that feeling can haunt you well after the dream ends.
Thirty/Forty years ago, I used to help my family hand-raise baby birds, with regular 2 or 3 hour feedings. I STILL have the occasional nightmare that I’m feeding them in my bed, and they are falling off the edge and dying. Even after all these decades. Brainz iz funny thingz.
No jury would convict you. You gave it head every night and it just lay there.
And I constantly am realizing I had a cat or dozen that I’d plumb forgotten about, wasting away in my closet or under the bed.
Lord, take me now.

I have had regular dreams about killing people since I was fairly young - probably since at least my tweens. I never have a problem with being caught either.
It generally creeps me out when I wake up.
Wow… just wow. A little golf clap for that one.
:smack: I have that one too, and I’ve never had a pet (except for a brief ferret stint). I realize it’s been weeks since I’ve fed the cat or cleaned the litter.
