Kingdom Hearts II: Using the Summon

I’m about 18 hours into Kingdom Hearts II on the PS2, currently on my first visit to Port Royal. I got the baseball charm, supposedly enabling me to summon Chicken Little, several hours ago, but I can’t use it. Do I need to equip it as an accessory on my keyblade (which I don’t seem to be able to do, see below), or just use it in a general way. What am I missing here?

Also, I’ve gotten at least one accessory (I know this because I saw the words “Obtained” and “Accessory” appear on the screen for an instant, but I don’t see it in stock and I can’t equip any accessories to my keyblade.

Am I doing something wrong, or are these abilities that come later in the game?

TIA

You should be able to just use the summon command from the on-screen menu. If you hit the left or right directional key, the menu listings will change and Summon becomes available. You can’t summon all the time - there are some locations that don’t make it possible, but it should still be on the list.

As for your accessory, check to see if it’s armour, or a ring or something. You can’t equip anything to the keyblades themselves. Go into Items (I think…don’t have the game turned on right now!) and select a character and see if you can add the new item to them.

I hope that helps you!

As someone who has no idea what this game is, the phrase “summon Chicken Little” is giving me much amusement.

OK, I figured out how to use the summon. Thanks for the help.

When I click on the items screen, there first thing I see is the two slots for my choice of keyblades. Below that are some blue lines, under the heading “Accessories.” Trouble is, when I click that, it goes to another screen, but there’s nothing I can put in there.

You’ll need to buy or find some accessories. Rings and bandannas, mostly.

If I recall correctly and I do, [smug]finished this game 100%[/smug], you can summon them from the action screen. Press left on the D pad till you see Summon as an option. Click on it then choose your summon. It will eat some of your drive though. But it seems you know that now.

Accessories are things like rings, earrings, charms and the like. If you click on the blue bar in ITEMS > SORA and nothing’s there it sounds like you don’t actually own any accessories.
