Kit-car question

Actually two questions.

First, are there kit-cars (replicas) that can fit on an old Honda Civic frame? I have an old Civic with a battered body, but a good engine and frame and was thinking about the possibility of a kit-car.

Second, what is a good site or two for finding good kit cars? One that is reliable and has a good record.

Vitesse

The Honda Civic would not be a good candidate for kit car use. It is built on a unibody chassis and removing the body would also remove most of the structural stiffness. Volkswagens could be used because even though a unibody car, none of the suspenion or engine supports were attatched to the main body. All was contained in a simple subframe unit.

There are many kit car manufacturers out there. Most are small sporty type cars set up to receive small block Chevy V-8’s. Many are 30’s model Fords and Chevy’s. Other popular kit cars include Cobras of the mid 60’s and Ferrari look alikes. A good place to start is Kitcars.com.

Never mind my first statement. I guess just changing body panels makes it a kit car.

Thank you racer72 for the information: both the original and the addendum although I couldn’t get your link to work for me for some reason.

Ringo, great site. It looks extremely promising.

OK, thanks again. Today, I got into your link racer72. I don’t know what happened last night.
