Kneel Before Zod!

Saw Superman II this weekend and I’ve been walking around ever since telling everyone to

Kneel Before Zod!

I finally get the jokes & in-references! Woohoo!

“Is there no one on this planet with the strength to even challenge me?”

“Why do you speak to me this way, when you know that I will kill you for it?”

Possibly my favorite…

President: “Oh, dear God…”

Zod: (mild reproach) “Zod.”

OK, I’ll bite.
What jokes and in-references?

sniff I’m so proud… they grow up so quick.

Stop there.

Krypton sucks.

After Superman II, what’s next, Turtle-Man? What else should I watch???

I meant “After Superman II” of course. Damnit - my computer is really slow today.

Still trying to find Naked Gun 2 1/2? It’s really an excellent movie.

And of course, the original 60’s Batman movie would be a fun watch, in the sense of “Oh my God, can you believe they ever made a Batman movie like this?” It was fun when I was 8, and now it’s fun on a whole other level.

What the hell? I *know * I hit “Superman III”.

I’m giving up.

I’ve seen it before, and love it. Just can’t find it anywhere (locally). Very annoying.

Superman III is, as I mentioned, a mixed bag, but I find it amusing. Definitely skip the fourth one.

“The son of Jor-El shall be my slave” . . . pause . . . “forever”.

It’s the pause that always gets me.

Airplane!, Animal House, Austin Powers, Blazing Saddles, The Blues Brothers, Caddyshack, Clerks, The Princess Bride, Spinal Tap, the first ten years of Saturday Night Live, and everything by Monty Python. And that’s just a start. It takes some real committment to keep up on pop references.

Boy, howdy, does it ever! I’m polishing off the last of Fawlty Towers this evening.

The only thing worthwhile in Superman III was the Atari-produced “video game sequence” near the end.

“That, son, is what computer-animated movies were like when I was growing up.”

You’re going to love this website.
“Son of Jor-El… KNEEEEL!”

Let’s see…

Airplane! Check.
Animal House Check.
**Austin Powers ** Check.
Blazing Saddles Check.
**The Blues Brothers **
**Caddyshack Check. **
**Clerks ** Really??
The Princess Bride Check.
**Spinal Tap **
**the first ten years of Saturday Night Live **
everything by Monty Python. Check…mostly check. Just not the Flying Circus, but I’ve seen nearly everything else.

More! More sci-fi movies that I missed. I’ve seen Logan’s Run, Clockwork Orange, Superman, most of the batman movies, tell me more!

“Why not increase his handicap? Since he cares so much for these Earth creatures, <pause> let us take his favorite!!”

<dramatic orchestral gesture>

Last time I went to Wal-Mart, I saw all three Naked Gun movies on DVD in their $5.50 DVD bin. You should check there if you want to see it… $16.50 for all three is a pretty good deal.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (I know you and I discussed that a while back, but I forgot if you had seen it or not.)
Dark City
Equilibrium
The Matrix (first one only, preferably)
Army of Darkness
Sin City (not sci-fi, but it’s awesome and comes out on DVD this month)
The Crow (first one only)
Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Tremors
