Knitters: Anybody got the Ultimate Sweater Machine?

I’m a fairly new knitter (so far I’ve only made a couple of scarves). Last night at a craft store I saw something called the Ultimate Sweater Machine, that claims you can use it to knit a sweater in an evening. I checked it out online and the general consensus seems to be that once you figure out how to use it (which is easy but does take a little time to get used to) you can indeed turn out knitting fast enough to do a sweater in an evening or two. Since I’m impatient and prefer the results to the process in knitting, this sounds like just the thing for me, but at $169.00 it’s a little too expensive to be an impulse purchase without some hard data.

Anybody have any experience with it? Can you make any kind of sweater with it as long as you have a pattern? You’re not limited to their own patterns, are you? How is it with simple intarsia? (The sweater I really want to make is Skully from the “Stitch and Bitch” book, which has intarsia skull-and-crossbones designs on both sleeves–if it can help me make this sweater easily I’ll buy it in a minute.)

Thanks!

Here’s a review. I hope this is the one you’re referring to.

Yep, that’s the one! Thanks! And it does sound like it can do intarsia. Excellent.
