Knitters - Square needles?

I was in the fancy yarn store today and I saw square knitting needles for sale. The owner was off sick and her husband was minding the store, so I couldn’t get much information about them, so I’m turning to the dope.

I’ve never seen them before. Has anyone tried them? Do they feel awkward?

I’ve tried them. They’re OK, better for certain types of yarn than others. They’re supposed to be easier on your hands, but I didn’t notice much of a difference.

they were ok, supposed to slip less was what I was told.
