I believe in the principle that “anything is possible” ; despite how extremely improbably something might be, and the fact that it is a self-defeating principle. By that I mean that:
∙ If anything is possible than it is possible for something to be impossible
∙ If it is possible for something to be impossible, then it impossible for that thing to be possible
: Therefore not anything is possible, just a lot of things.
Anyone know of any other self-defeating principles?
I don’t see how that follows. Couldn’t it be possible for something to be impossible without it actually being impossible, so that it was then possible for it to be possible?
I guess it depends on what you mean by “possible” and “impossible”.
“Life is meaningless” :
The possibility that nothing matters can be safely ignored, because if it’s true then it doesn’t matter if we assume otherwise. (This is the argument for assuming that morality is objective.) It’s not actually a logical self-contradiction, but hey.
