In trying to recall some films to add to the list in Best spy films I’m drawing a blank on which Frank Sinatra movie it was where he was supposed to go to a clock shop or a jewelry store in some European city like Amsterdam or Munich with a name something like the thread title and give the clerk something to get some information of some sort.

I think it may have been Von Ryan’s Express (1965) but I can’t convince myself on the basis of my memory. I seem to think that the name of the shop was visible but I can’t remember the actual spelling, so I went with a phonetc. I remember Frank was wearing a trenchcoat but that may be a false memory. He wore lots of trenchcoats.

Help?

Another possibility could be The Naked Runner (1967) which was partially filmed in Copenhagen.

Over 80 views! Surely Sinatra fans (of his acting anyway) must have seen this movie. My memory is probably like it is on old movies, more charitable than it should be, but I seem to think it was a decent spy movie.

Okay. I have about decided the movie has to be The Naked Runner based on clues in some of the commentary about it and a “watch strap” that figures into the plot somehow.

Does anybody who has been to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Munich, Berlin, or any other big cities in that region (not Paris for sure) have any idea what would be a spelling of the establishment that might sound like the title? I have tried as many variations as make sense to me and have found nothing!

I remain mostly convinced that the shop was a jewelry store or clock shop or the sort of place somebody would go into for some specilized work on a watch or small piece of jewelry.

It may remain a mystery to me until and unless Netflix or one of the cable movie channels decides to show (or make available) that Sinatra movie. It was a good one as best I can remember from at least 20 years ago.
