Lacing Ice Skating Shoes

I cannot fully lace the show so that my foot isn’t moving in it when I skate. I have a skin condition that makes me unable to apply full force, and I am not sure I am strong enough to lace the shoe. Is there a different solution?

Get some strong looking and blond Swedish dude to help you. Preferably one that smells like chocolate. Yum!

(I kid:))

Could you elaborate on how this skin condition prevents you from applying full force? If it’s to do with your hands and their ability to grip the laces tightly while pulling the lacing tight, you might consider pliers to do the gripping for you.

It may make preparing to skate more cumbersome than you’d prefer, but istm that the extra confidence and stability should be worth it.

Or, obtain assistance, as Beckdawrek suggests.

You could get skates that buckle.

Or (for a bit less money) a skate lace tightener.

Would it help if you wore additional socks? I wore my skates barefoot/without socks, as I know others did too, as I’ve always heard you want your skates smaller than your shoes. Can you get smaller skates, or wear additional socks? Kind of like doing the opposite of what I did.

You could start crying and prop your leg up on the judge’s table and ask them if you could start over? I don’t know, just a thought.

^^nice!

These are good, but for convenience, I recommend the folding kind - like this:
