Ladies & gentlemen, your future vice president! (Palin interview by Katie Couric)

(working backwards) Nixon to Ford, Kennedy to Johnson, Roosevelt to Truman…Harding to Coolidge? I knew you are older than me, but I had no idea!

For all I’ve bashed the woman must admit she’s a hell of a hunter.

Moose, wolves, deer, bears and – wait for it – witches too!

Fact: since that very exorcism with Pastor Muthee there hasn’t been a single verifiable witchcraft attack recorded in Alaska. Again, that’s some hunting skills!

Though how this hasn’t got any number of American women (hell, even female tourists that fit the description) who might have a slightly crooked nose or nasal wart/bit of a hunchback and/or some peach-fuzz on their upper lip in a frenzy is, quite frankly beyond me.

Their very lives are on the balance!

OTOH, should this literally insane pairing happen to win, the US of A will become the biggest and best Reality Show of All Time. I’d be willing to put a lot of my hard earned savings on the Network that carried that one.

NBC presents Witch Hunts Live! Brought to you by Revlon, always there to make you look your best, your friendly NRA, proud providers of the witch hunting implements used during the show and The Coalition of Religious Wackos who lord and protect our (once) proud nation.

God bless America!

Tragedy or comedy, PG or R rating best left up to viewer discretion for we still want to be hated for our Freedom…

Bush to Cheney… :stuck_out_tongue:

Dude, the kids here don’t even get the REGULAR Firesign quotes. Isn’t getting that obscure kinda self-indulgent?

Doesn’t count. Bush was NEVER president.

Which lately some of us are starting to feel for the whole GOP.

Sorry for the hijack, but I can only remember 3 off the top of my head: Truman, Johnson, and Ford. Were you talking about Bush Sr. when Reagan was shot? Or did I underestimate your age a little bit? :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Palin taking over, I envision her either establishing a “doctrine” of vendetta-based policies and loyalty oaths, or becoming a figurehead controlled by the current administration’s puppetmasters. Either one would be disastrous.

I think it’s time for a paradigm change, obviously these tortured attempts to patch a dying theory can not go on.

Batshit physics served its purposes well until now, but we are obviously dealing with something bigger here, the new quantum condorshit theory easily acomodates shitery ratios of this scale.

I beg your pardon, sir, America had that one in the bag long before the reality show was invented.

We had it before television was invented.

I thought Alex Haige took over when Reagan was shot.

Maybe he meant VPs that were elected after their president finished out their second term.

It’s like *deja voodoo *all over again, isn’t it? Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to make the rest of us repeat it. I’ve read a lot about FDR, and have a pretty good grasp of it, by my lights. But I *lived *through Nixon and I totally understand that!

All kidding aside, Bush did transfer power to Cheney when he underwent colon polyp surgery last year.

Unfortunately, this attempt to rid President Bush of Karl Rove was not successful…

Thud-a-bump ting! Thank you, thank you, here all week don’t forget to tip your veal, and try the waitress…

A fair observation but you’ve clearly never been in similar but non media situations, such as negotiations.

I do not believe reporters are inherently fucking with the interviewee, rather communication of precise points is much harder than people think it is. I have been in corp negotiations with mergers and found that under stress, people tend to hear what they are prepared to hear, and often the repeat back function / habit helps make sure what you think you understood / heard is what the other person meant.

It doesn’t take either an ounce of bad faith or stupidity, in my experience, to have serious and unintentional miscommunication. I am sure some journos exploit this, but it also strikes me most of you are terribly naive in your evaluation of communication value under stress.

Couric asked her a straight question, repeated it and then said “answer the question”.

I’ve never been interviewed on TV but I’ve been to stressful military boards ****where they fuck with you on purpose ****to see how you handle stress. From what I’ve seen of Palin she’d spontaneously combust in a similar situation.

If she can’t deal with Couric and (at least to me) measure up to a military board, she’s unfit for VPOTUS.

Has this been posted yet?

I bolded where the issue of contention would be for Bo - pointing out gaffes Biden’s made over a longer period doesn’t address the OP’s question.

If they had left Palin alone, not tried to present her as being what she most assuredly is not, I could almost like her.

Her assets are lost and only her faults remain, standing out in much sharper relief. Her common-sense, every-day-hockey-mom abilities to deal with issues might have been impressive. If she would say, “I don’t know that, but I am willing to learn. After all, I will be able to call on the best minds in America!” then she’d look much more Vice-Presidential than idiotic.

Choosing her looked smart at first. But they took a pretty good woman and turned her into a lipstick-on-a-pig monstrosity.

And, of course, having said that, nothing on earth could persuade me to vote McCain/Palin if I was an American and could vote, but it’s not so much Palin as McCain. The guy is batshit nuts. No doubt of it.

It’s not Tirebiter anyway, it is Pappoon.

Pappoon, Pappoon for president you know he’s not insane.

Little did I know when I bought that record I’d be living through a campaign where that was the best qualification of a participant.

Maybe we should strap her onto the nose of the giant rocket.

(Sorry if my quotes are off - haven’t listened to that one for years. )
