I’ve never seen Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil, nor am I into the drag scene. But I did see her on an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He said, ‘She’s a wonderful, wonderful person to show their side of the city. I wouldn’t think of coming here without spending the day with her.’
I liked the novel but loathed the movie, including they changes they made to her character, but she was one of the few things watchable in it. She was a natural. (True, she was playing a version of herself, but as any number of cameos in any number of TV shows and movies will prove, many people can’t do that believably.)
As The Doll said herself, “Two tears in a bucket, motherfuck it.” RIP.
