Lake id?

Here is the opening sequence (and a little more) of an obscure 1960s movie called The Road Hustlers. It was filmed mostly in central South Carolina near Lake Murray. I’ve been trying to id the lake shown in the opening sequence, but I have not been able to place it anywhere in North or South Carolina–so possibly it’s inserted stock footage.

Any ideas???

You could try to superego the lake instead.

OK, I’m bumping this based on the success of the earlier ‘Lake id’ thread. It’s probably in South Carolina–but not necessarily. But dog-gone if I can find any lake that matches it.

Any reason to assume that it isn’t Lake Murray? I haven’t found any spot that matches it specifically, but the general appearance is about right, and the exact shape could have changed in several decades.

That other lake question was answered in under three hours. If we answer this one, it’s gonna kill our average time.

I suspect this is probably the North Saluda Reservoir in northeastern South Carolina. Found it completely by accident. Rather small in comparison to most of the other nearby lakes (only a little over 1000 acres), so it was going to be hard to find.

Yep, that’s it.

Quick catch!

I bet John DiFool would have been quite surprised at receiving a warning were one to be issued 30 months after the post

I tried to fish Lake Id, but it was too polluted.

You’re not serious, are you? You are issuing a mod note on something posted over two years ago?

What’s the statute of limitations of a warnable misconduct in GQ? There isn’t one, I suspect.

The gears grind slowly but inexorably.
