Land of The Lost

The original Land of The Lost show (NOT the abysmal remake) was surprisingly good SF for a “kiddie” show with a limited special effects budget (the first two seasons-third season got silly). I believe that Larry Niven contributed a couple of scripts. I was curious if there was a source, or “bible”, for the show outlining just what the “Land of the Lost” was, it’s putative history, how it worked, etc. Along the same lines I was wondering if anyone has done any serious SF based on the series premise, or if there’s any LOTL fan fiction out there.

We’re talking about Sid & Marty Krofft here. There was no elaborate back story created. No detailed history. No maps. They basically just made it up as they went along! Same thing for Lidsville, Electra Women & Dynal Girl, Sigmund the Sea Monster, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the world of Sid & Marty Krofft! Lots of found memories watching the shows as a kid. But Tolkien and Jordan they are not.
