Landline phone

My SO and I are both “ancient” and dropped our land line about 5 or 6 years ago and never looked back. I have a “smart phone” and he has just the standard cell phone.

Realized we were paying for a land line that essentially was only an answering machine for telemarketers.

We also have a (free) Google voice phone number and give that number to businesses, so the only people who call us on our cell phones are friends and family.

BTW, our local Cox Cable company has a deal with cable/internet/phone - they have sent us a flyer on this every month for the past two years…wonder when they will give up trying to foist this land line on us?

I have a landline and a cell phone, for several reasons.

The cell phone reception at my house is so-so. For real clear calls, the landline is much better.

I have three landline extensions in my house, so if the phone rings I’m never far away. On the other hand I take my cell phone out of my pocket as soon as I get home from work, so if it later rings I am often in another part of the house, and have to run to pick it up before it goes to voicemail.

I believe calling 911 from the landline gives more accurate location information to the emergency services.

54, don’t have one, haven’t had one in about six years, and don’t miss it.
