This laptop doesn’t wake up from standbye, no matter what. I’ve hit all the keys, and even tapped the power button and all the hot keys at the top. I’ve had to just turn it off.
Again, any bright ideas? I’ve been to the power options, but I can’t see anything that seems to apply. I had thought that installing SP1 for Win XP had solved it, but it seems to be back.
TIA.
I have the same problem with an old Compaq. Even turning of the computer won’t deal with it; I have to remove both the power and the battery. Seems to be a firmware problem, but for me, firmware updates didn’t help either.
So, not helpful, but at least now you know you’re not alone.
Try holding down the power button for 30 or 60 seconds.
I hate to ask the obvious, but have you checked the techsupport area of the manufacturer’s website to see if this is a known issue?
I find that some screensavers can cause lockups so turn off your screensaver if you are using one and see if that helps.
Lastly, if all else fails, disable the standby and select the “Always On” Power Scheme.
FWIW… I’ve burned up a lapper by leaving it on all the time. Laptops don’t cool as efficiently as desktop computers so if you are away from the computer for an extended period of time, you should definitely shut it down.
