Laser Eye Surgery Patient Check-In

You’re in luck. Quite a few places cost less now that the doctors have had their lasers paid off, etc. I paid $4500 for mine 3 years ago and the same doctor now does it for $995 per eye, I believe.

I never had a problem with actual halos or stars at night, but I did have trouble seeing and avoided driving after dark for the most part. My doctor said it usually clears up after a year and it did indeed. The only thing that remains a bit annoying is it takes me a few seconds to adjust to the light images when watching a movie in the theater. Other than that I’m 100% satisfied, and it’s a joy to not have to worry about losing my glasses at the pool on on rollercoasters, etc. Love it!

I experienced pain during the procedure on the first eye, because I forgot to warn the doctors about my extreme undersensitivity to anaesthetics. When they did the second eye they double-dosed me and I was fine.

ruadh just a quick question, did you get yours done in Ireland and if so how much did it cost you?

I didn’t have any pain during or after the surgery. I did experience the halos around lights but that faded after a few months.

Actually the surgery was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It was like some weird psychadelic film, with red laser lights, the perspective shifting due to the eye lens being sliced and moved, and the other spotlights. I’d pay a couple bucks just to see it all again.

And is everything fine, I hope? And if I may ask, what was your nearsightedness level before?

Yes, at the Wellington Clinic in Ballsbridge last November. £3200, but I got about a fifth of that back from Revenue.
