You may wish to request that a mod add “Last Lecture” to the thread title, since many may know him from that but not recall his name.
His passing is a great loss, not only to his family, but to everyone he ever touched. With his Last Lecture he touched a lot of people, including me. I hope his family finds comfort in that.
Made the change.
Haven’t read his stuff yet, but he sounds like a great guy. RIP.
Very sad to hear this.
I didn’t realize things had gotten drastically worse over the last month. I had noticed he hadn’t updated his blog recently, but didn’t realize he’d been transfered to hospice.
Another 53 points for Rachm Qoch in the Death Pool?
I had been reading his health update page. When he went several weeks without an update after having had bad news with his last chemo, this was not exactly a surprise but still quite sad.
He was an amazing man with an inspiring outlook on life and courageous view of his impending death. I hope his children grow up with lots of good memories of what he was like.
47 is far too young.
I first saw him on Oprah, then saw “Last Lecture.” What an amazing human being, who touched the world so eloquently. Damn, only 47.
Carnegie Mellon university posted the Last Lecture in You Tube:
I’m truly sorry I never met him and I would have loved to be one of his students.
One of his childhood dreams was “to be Captain Kirk.” Director J.J. Abrams helped him come close to that goal by giving him a part in the upcoming Star Trek movie.

I got a custom-made Star Trek uniform and my own station on the bridge, where I had lots of buttons and controls. I even got a LINE!!! - Dr. Pausch*
Let us hope that his scene doesn’t fall victim to the cutting room floor and that Dr. Pausch will indeed be up on the big screen come next May.
What a fantastic person and wonderful teacher. Thank you for bringing this to my attention
