Here another part of history is gone.
I think I saw a tape of that interview, a truly historic person. Too bad.
Damn! didn’t even know any o them were still alive!
I give a few links to the Dambusters story at the end of my second Teemings article:
The history has not gone if we still remember those who lived it, how they lived, detop, and pass on what we remember to the generations to come. Here’s to the Dambusters, those who forged a legend. Lest we forget.
Yup. He was a good guy. One of my co-workers interviewed him last Remembrance Day-- and we reran the interview over the holidays.
Remembrance is just a past shadow compared to their presence unfortunately. He also passed away just a few months short of the 60th anniversary of the raid.
For Americans posters, I wonder if there are still survivors of the American equivalent of this raid, the Ploesti raid , also from 1943.
