I hadn’t realized the others were all gone. Heck, they’d had a reunion when I was in grad school.
I read and re-read my copy of Brickhill’s book to pieces, and collected other books on the camp. I was always fascinated by their ingenuity and resourcefulness.

This is weird. While almost 9 years ago Cal Meacham writes: Last Survivor of Stalag Luft III “Great Escape” dies, today I am reading an article:
Last member of real-life Great Escape team dies aged 99: Dick Churchill escaped from German prison camp in a feat immortalised in the film starring Steve McQueen
Apparently one of the survivors died in 2015, too. To be fair, that’s about the level of accuracy I expect from Yahoo News.
