Late blooming chess masters?

Are there currently active chess masters (or at least strong, competitive chess players) who learned the game rather late in life?

Chinese Grandmaster Ye Jiangchuan, who learned chess when he was 17 years old, would be an example. I would be particularly interested in players who learned chess really late, like aged 30, 40 or maybe even older.

By learning chess, I mean the bare rules of the game, i. e. how the different chess pieces move etc.
