Late Model Cars

What is a late model car?

A ‘late model car’ simply means it’s a more recent model of that particular make. For example, while a '65 Mustang would be a classic, a '96 would be a ‘late model’.

Most dealers consider any vehicle listed in the NADA price guide as a late model. The NADA guide lists vehicles no more than 7 model years old. The 2003 edition lists 1997 through 2003 models. NADA also sells price guides for cars up to 30 years old.

I was watching a game show a long, long time ago, and someone won a “late model car”. When it was time to reveal the prize, it wasn’t there. After a few moments, someone came in with a plastic kit – and it was late.
