In today’s (28 June 2007) “Straight Dope Classic,” http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_007b.html,
Cecil tells us that the Straight Dope Science Advisory Board reports that increasing the hydroxide (OH-) concentration of water will lower its pH. I don’t know what kind of Straight Dope the SDSAB was smoking that day, but increasing the OH- concentration raises the pH.

That would be a Little Ed mistake. I am certain that the SDSAB member consulted said no such thing, and Cecil certainly typed no such thing. :eek:
