We have a couch cover and no place to hang it to dry. It’s quite large. What’s going to happen if I put it in the dryer?
Presumably it would shrink some. Or it might not be able to withstand the heat of a dryer. Either way, it would not be good to see.
What material is it made of?
I did that to my futon cover once, and holy crap did it make it hard to get back on (it shrank ever-so-slightly). I cursed my stupidity every time I had to wrestle the cover onto my futon after that.
jayjay, 60% polyester, 28% cotton and 12% acrylic
Shrinkage is the obvious answer, duh. And that would certainly render it useless on a rather large couch.
“Line” doesn’t necessarily mean “line” – you can hang it over your shower curtain rod, for instance. I hang my comforter cover over the railing at the top of the stairs – or you can put a few kitchen chairs together to create a place to drape it, off the floor, and let air circulate.
Quick “duh” warning: if you throw it over your shower curtain rod, take a wet rag and wipe the top of the curtain rod off. There can be a lot of dust up there and I put a big nasty line across the chest of an almost-white sweater that way once.
