I’m not a sweaty person, and washing is hard on clothes, so I only wash my clothes when I have to (dirty or stinky). It works for me.
Thanks, all - like Cat Whisperer, I’m not a sweaty person at all, and there’s no reason I’d wash an expensive shirt after wearing it only once if I haven’t been doing anything strenuous in it. I think this was a freak chemical reaction in the wash, given that it’s the first time it’s ever happened.
Happily, I can report that it’s totally fixed - in the UK we have a stain remover called Vanish, which sorted out the last of the marks, and my lovely shirt is back to normal! Now I just need to brave myself to wear it again without panicking when I put it in the wash…
Thanks for all your help - you guys rock.
I know I’m late on this but I add a hald a cup of 20 mule Team Borax to my sons laundry. It totally removes any odors and stains. My Mom taught me this trick and said in the old days it was used on cloth diapers to remove stains and odor.
If you have any man smell in your clothes it removes it from clothing and bedding. I use it in the laundry of the elderly to remove elder odors. Bleach is just too damaging to most fabrics.
Glad you got it out!
