Laura

Another Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Couple things:

  1. If I missed seeing it, I apologize, but I have yet to see anybody mention a certain Ms. Bush!

  2. Does anybody else see any parallels between the movie Laura (1944) and Sharky’s Machine (1981)? Maybe it’s just me…

Laura Ingalls Wilder too here.

My youngest daughter and Laura Pausini (better pronuncition too).

One of my favorite films. And the best rendering of the song is by Johnny Mathis.

  1. Daughter.
  2. “Ohhhhh, Robbbbb…”

Interestingly (to me) I didn’t think of anyone in particular. After several seconds, the first Laura I could think up was Laura Vandervoort. While that’s a pretty obscure name, even worse is the second one that came to mind: Maura Tierney. That’s not even a Laura.

Well, there’s sort of a link going on here: Maura Tierney –> Gene Tierney –> Laura Hunt –> Hunt & Peck –> Gregory Peck –> To Kill A Mockingbird –> Mockingbird Hill – Hill Street Blues –>

Who has a link back to Maura?

I guess we’d better be careful or this thread may get moved to the dreaded Game Room!

who do I think of? me

and I’d have to go with Ingalls-Wilder as well.

Laura Norder.

The Billy Joel song “Laura”

My first thought was Vincent Price – who had a “straight” role in the movie.

Me four. My mother had that on a 78 - it was my first Spike Jones song.

Laura, like a train which is passing through

“Think of Laura” by Christopher Cross

The children’s playground game cocky laura. Which they’re probably forbidden from playing nowadays because it’s ‘too risky’.

I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone named Laura, so to be honest my mind was completely blank. I figured there may have been a movie or maybe a new TV show with the name, because this is Cafe Society. Apart from that, not a thing came to mind.

A lass I know then this song by Bat For Lashes.

I thought the thread would be about that new Debra Messing show- and I haven’t even watched it.

Wow! I hadn’t thought of that connection until you said it. I’ve seen enough bad buzz on it to be curious, but not enough to watch it.

Does anybody else remember a “remake” of the movie Laura (I) (1968) with Robert Stack in the Dana Andrews role and Lee Radziwill

as the Gene Tierney character?

My memory is that it was pretty weak. And judging by her other roles (none) I guess she shied away from further exploitations of the sort.
