On Law and Order last night, a part of the episode was when the suspect fled into the Iranian Embassy in NYC and McCoy tried to get him out of there for trial.
Now, I thought that the U.S. and Iran did not have diplomatic relations. There should not be an Iranian Embassy in NYC or anywhere else in the U.S., right?
There definitely shouldn’t be an embassy in New York - the embassy should be in Washington D.C. I can imagine a trade mission or consulate, though, or some other building where Iranian diplmats who work at the U.N. can hang out.
What bugged me more was the gloating “It was a trick” bit. Basic intelligence rule - never let the enemy know they’ve been fooled. That reduces your chance of fooling them again in future.
It think it was probably supposed to be Iran’s mission to the UN. (I believe the caption said “mission” and not “consulate”).
