Can someone tell me what the hell happened to Angie Harmon’s character? I tuned in last night to find a blonde in her place. I wasn’t a huge fan of her character to begin with, but I’m wondering if she was dispatched in grand fashion, as some characters in “Law & Order” have been.
i was watching an episode last week, and she told jack she was offered a job “next door” doing something with high-profile stuff. sorry, can’t be more specific, cause i was trying to keep the baby happy and only catch about 1/2 of anything anymore.
it was an episode where a lady in a volvo gets shot, turns out she was the wrong victim. actual target was a reporter who had dirt on a elected official that was going to cast light on election fraud. ends up with the congresswoman’s (?) aide testifying against her for the murder-for-hire.
maybe she took the job?
She went to work for the Justice Department. That’s as much as I know, not having seen the season finale.
I think that was pretty much all that happened - one scene just kind of stuck in the middle of the season finale in which she said, “Oh, by the way, Jack, I’ve been offered a job in the Justice Department and I’m taking it.” “Okay, see ya’.” Almost like it was added after the rest of the show was filmed (but I can’t confirm that, it’s just how it seemed).

Unlike Jill Hennessy’s character, she didn’t die. So she could come back for a guest spot as Carrie Lowell has.
Has there been any backstory about the new ADA? It seems like she just appeared out of thin air.
That’s how they do it on L&O. All story, no character development. Or close enough anyway.
Hmmmph. Maybe I should start watching that show again. A blonde you say?
I watched the season premier, and when it came time for the “Order” part, she just walked through the door and started talking to McCoy like she’d been there for months. No introduction to her character whatsoever. True, they don’t have much character development, but this was the first time a new cast member was introduced with zero backstory. I remember being a little confused, but then I moved onto bigger problems, like the fact that she can’t act at all. (We talked about her bad acting briefly in this thread).
And what’s with those threads? She looks like a Croupier half the time. Nor does it help that she looks *exactly *like the new blonde from NYPD Blue, so half the time I forget which show I’m watching altogether.
A blonde with an incredibly annoying voice.
Annoying voice?
Another character with an annoying voice?
Why does everyone in the DA’s office sound hoarse? Jack, Adam, Abbie - they all sounded like speaking was an effort at times. When you say “annoying”, I almost hope you mean high pitched and squeaky. Anything to counter all the hoarse voices that have passed through that office in recent times!
Ah…I long for a simpler time. A time when Jill Hennessey graced us with her presence every week.
Wait a minute…Crossing Jordan anyone?
Angie Harmon left to get schtupped by Jason Sehorn, defensive player for the New York Giants, who proposed to her on the Tonight Show. Incredibly lucky bastard.
Let me just add that it’s incredibly realistic for an Executive Assistant D.A. and an ADA to spend so much of their time devoted to one case. This also happens in real life.
In other news: sun rises in west, Pope discovered to be Buddhist.
I had a friend who was an ADA, and later bureau chief, in the Queens DA office under Santucci and then Richard Brown. As an ADA, she carried literally hundreds of cases, and would often not get to review the case file until the morning of trial). As a bureau chief, she tried to avoid that for the ADAs she supervised, but the sheer magnitude of bad guys in New York always kept ahead of the resources of the DA’s office.
So you’ll forgive me if I smirk a bit at how Jack McCoy and his sidekick have time to traipse all over town, and out to Riker’s Island, on one case.

I know it’s dramatic license (and totally necessary to avoid having dozens of characters), but I think the same thing BRICKER – Have they no paralegals? Have they no investigators? She’s going out to Riker’s again? Must be very short staffed.
That said, I love L&O. I’ve watched it for years and it remains one of my favorite shows.

It’s easy. They’ve got it set up so they have only one case at a time, but they always get that case resolved within exactly one half hour (or 22 minutes if you don’t count commercials).
It’s also amazing that one DA prosecutes 22 high profile cases in a year. He must be pretty busy.
No wonder McCoy has had a series of bad relationships with women.
Nevertheless, I love the show.
But bring back Stephen Hill!

Me, too - I like the show, and they’re not abysmal as far as courtroom procedure goes - at least in comparison to their competitors.
You mention their apparent lack of investigators - isn’t it amazing that one of them never has to step down as prosecutor because they’re needed as a witness? What kind of goober spends all this time prepping to try the case, and then goes to interview a witness himself? If he does turn something up, or get an admission of some kind… how’s it gonna get into evidence?
