Last night’s episode included a slam against the mayor. By my count, it was the third reference to the current administration, with one naming DeBlasio. IIRC, the first was right after he took office, concerning presumed NYPD force reductions.
What’s up with that? What axe does Dick Wolf have to grind? Google turned up nothing.
How do you know it’s not an in-character thing, or the writers’ impression of what the RL NYPD thinks?
It’s three different characters, only one of whom is a cop. The other two were ancillaries who seemed to be there just to deliver that line. I’ve only noticed the three instances, but two were last season and the most recent, this week.
