Lawnmowing in December

There’s something seriously wrong with having to cut your lawn in December!! There should be a nip in the air. The leaves should all be off the trees. Baking cookies should be a cozy afternoon activity…

I started my day off by mowing - that worked up quite a sweat. Then after a trip to the grocery, I mixed up a couple of batches of cookies - working up another sweat. I don’t know when I’m going to bake them because I had to close up the house and turn on the air conditioner, and I hate to turn on the oven at the same time.

Just 3 more winters, then I can get back to the brisk, crisp Decembers of Maryland. No more mowing lawns after October. It’s wrong - just wrong.

<sigh> The preceeding whine was brought to you by your mundane, pointless FairyChatMom… Carry on.

I generally mow my lawn once in December after the last of the leaves are down, (a) to chew up the last of the leaves in lieu of raking/leafblowing one last time, and (b) so the grass doesn’t look too shaggy over the winter.

But when I get around to doing it, it’ll be the first time in over a month. And the last time before spring. :stuck_out_tongue:

  • RT, who lives up in Maryland

Booker57 lives in Upstate NY. He spent some time raking leaves on the Second of December thinking * maybe there is somthing to this Global Warming after all *
This is the first year owning a sno-blower too.
Four brand new snow tires all mounted and sitting in the garage.
Truly liking this weather, but I fear what will happen when the hammer drops

Here in Ohio, we just the warmest recorded November in a long time. It has been in the mid 50’s or so. My parents haven’t told me to go cut the grass since early October, so I’m not giung to mention that it needs cut.

I heard somewhere’s (don’t know if this is true or not) that this is the first time in over 70 years Buffalo, NY did not get snow in November. Of course, not living in Buffalo I can’t confirm that. I tried a google search, but to no avail.

This is very warm weather for this time of year in the Albany area. I don’t like it, there should be snow. SNow, I say!
