Are there any limits on the type or dosage of opiate pain medications that a dentist is allowed to prescribe in California? Long story short, I have a very bad toothache, the pain medications I was prescribed are not even making a dent in that pain, and my dentist’s office tells me that what I was prescribed (Norco 5/325) is the most they can do. I’m wondering if this is just an office policy (they also do not offer nitrous oxide to their patients, something else I really don’t agree with), or a legal limit.
I really like this dentist otherwise, but if this is just an office policy, I think I’m going to have to go looking for a new dentist.
