Well, in October I will be flying to Japan, and I have two long layovers in Inchon International Airport (ICN).
The first layover is on my way to Japan, 5 hours 55 minutes long (minus going through passport control, etc.) on October 8 (saturday). My ingoing flight lands at 9:25AM and my outgoing flight takes off at 3:20PM.
The second layover is on my way back from Japan, 10 hours 40 minutes long (again, minus passport control and customs, and all that) on October 17 (monday). My ingoing flight lands at 2:15PM and my outgoing flight takes off at 12:55AM on October 18.
So… Is there any possibility for me to check out Seoul or something over there in South Korea during my layovers?
Any dopers who dwell in the area, do you have any suggestions?
Anything particularly interesting that I might do in that time?
It’s a brilliant idea to promote your city. The tours leave from the airport, are free, come in different lengths and bring you back in time for your flight!
What’s not to love? It’s a lovely airport and they have some yummy Pho available!
Seoul has a fantastic metro system which goes to the airport, so even if that tour isn’t available for some reason you should still be able to do this.
Just understand it takes about 45 minutes to get to Seoul from the airport using the subway and even longer by bus. Then it will take that same amount of time getting back!! So minus that from the time you plan on exploring.
