Anyone know anything about LCD TVs?
There is a 50 inch Sony KFSOXBR800 LCD TV on sale for $3700 at a local store and I am damned tempted. Anyone know the downside of LCD? I know the earlier models were choppy when it came to fast motion video, but the salesman swore up and down the newer models had cured this. Anyone know for sure?
Just to clear things up, this is a rear-projection unit that uses LCD rather that CRT, right? Not a 50 inch LCD flat screen.
Correct.
It is my understanding that Sony’s XBR line has been discontinued. You might want to search here for more info and recommendations.
BTW, here’s a link to it so you can see the details:

Do you know when and why it was discontinued?
No, but the folks at HTF (linked above) know this stuff intimately.
I wonder how much the lamp costs? & for how long you can use it.
According to what I’ve read, the lamp costs $200 and lasts something like 5000-8000 hours.
