Learner Drivers

I’m not sure how it all works in the US, so just to make it clear I’m from the UK lol.

I’ve been learning to drive for the last 2 months or so, and my final test will be at the start of September sometime.

I’d say I’m at a level where I’m probably on par with a majority of the general public (if not better in some cases), yet I still get a queue of cars behind me wherever I go, it’s like just because I have an “L” plate on the back of my car, they must follow as closely as possible - even if it means breaking the speed limit to catch up to me first.

Is it some kind of subconscious thing that drivers must try and intimidate me at every given opportunity? The one time I gave “brake light treatment” to such a driver, I was given a warning by my instructor and I haven’t done it since.

You were all learning at one point in time - give me a chance!!!

People don’t like me going the speed limit, so they get real close to me, including big rigs.

I doubt ‘hassle the newbie’ is going through the other driver’s head.

The main problem is your having to drive at below the speed limit, (when with your instructor), when other drivers don’t have any formal pressure to comply and will wish to drive a little quicker.

Don’t worry, you’ll get continue to get tail-gated and harassed by idiot drivers every bit as much once you have passed your test.

Yeah, when you get into your own car, you will tend to drive faster than you would witn an instructor in the car.
