Left handed Doper Sign in

OK all you Leftys. Its time to sign in.
I am guessing that most of the long time dopers and the funnier ones are all leftys.

I’m a lefty. I’ve taught myself to write a bit with my right hand, but the only thing I do with any proficiency is using the mouse.

No bad jokes about this, all you perverts. You who know me know the obvious joke doesn’t apply.

I’m a lefty. I’m pretty ambidextrous (throw righty, play drums righty), but for all tasks requiring delicate dexterity, like writing, shaving, eating, wanking, I’m lefty. In fact, I’m such a hooking lefty that people have asked me if it hurts when I write.

Here.

But I bat and golf right-handed. A goofy one, I am.

Milo, you are a yooper eh?

I write left handed. But I jerk off right handed.

So, how bout those Mets?

I’m not, but my daughter (a future Doper if there ever was one) is a hooking lefty. She’s three, and just learning to draw actual pictures instead of just scribbling. One day not too long ago, she drew a picture of a kitty. Her hook was so hard that the kitty came out upside down. I was amazed.

forgot to mention:

I bat right because I was taught such. I don’t hook when I write, and the truly weird thing about me is that both my parents are righties, but my sister and I are lefties.

I kick with my left, so I jump with my right, which is why my right leg is somewhat stronger than my left.

TMI, I know, but this is MPSIMS . . .

For the two things where my mother had the greater influence (writing and eating), I’m predominantly right-handed. I can eat left-handed, even with chopsticks, but prefer righty. For nearly everything else, I’m a lefty, probably because Dad is a lefty, and he didn’t see a need to ‘correct’ me. Throwing, kicking, jerking (well, Dad didn’t show me how to do THAT)…all lefty.

Two exceptions: Golf, because the clubs I learned to use were righty, and shooting (firearms), because my right eye is dominant.

I’m mostly right-handed. I fly helicopters with my right hand (the left is for the cyclic control), and airplanes with the left hand (leaves the right hand free to work the throttle).

I usually write with my right hand, but can do it well enough with my left.

I always use my mouse with my left hand (easier to do two things at once… bugs people when they use my computer, though).

I’ve noticed that most of what I do around the kitchen is left-handed.

i too am proud to say i’m a lefty. i throw better with my right hand, though. mouse with the right. kick better with my right foot. brush w/ the right too. damn, i never realized how much i do with my right hand.

freakyfeely- i second you

oh, but i am left-eyed.

Another lefty here. I love being left-handed. I write with my paper turned at a 45[sup]o[/sup] angle. I’m very right footed though, soccer & football.

Both my brothers and one cousin are left handed. Otherwise, no parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents or any other previous relative on either side were known to be lefthanded. I don’t know where we came from.

Jim

Not quite. I’m about 40 miles south of the bridge.

Me too. Coincidence, or phenomenon?

And I absolutely operate a mouse with my right hand. My last job, they heard I was a lefty, and set up my computer that way. Completely screwed me up. Had them change it immediately.

I am one of those upside-down left-handers when it comes to writing. If I have to write for a significant length of time (kind of an occupational hazard for a note-taking newspaper reporter), I get wicked cramps in my hand and wrist. Plus, I’m always plagued with smudged writing and ink stains along the left side of my left hand.

I’ve seen the lefties who turn the page sideways and write from down to up. It’s wild.

Sorry I cant help it

TROLL

(I dont mean that in the SDMB sense of the word)

fnord, NO ONE’S going to get that.

Lefty. Mom is a lefty. Both Grandmothers are leftys.
All first borns, too. My first born, a son, is a lefty, and my second born daughter is not. My son is the only male lefty in the family.
I am so left handed, my right hand is just for show.

I’m a lefty. I’m with FreakFreely.

True, actually most people dont even know about the other half of Michigan.
But as long as you got it.
By the way, I am the first born too.

I’m the only left-handed person in my immediate family.

I seem to have, over the years, managed to hook up with an inordinate number of left-handers as friends and collegues. At last count there were over two dozen.

I’m a lefty, as are my brother and my mother.

I operate my mouse left-handed, but with the buttons mapped for right-handed use - i.e., I left-click with my middle finger and right-click with my index finger. Mom has her buttons reversed and it totally screws me up when I have to use her PC.
