Lefties Unite!

Another lefty. Actually, ambidextrous, but I identify as a lefty. In my family, one person in every generation is left-handed.

My son’s 1st grade teacher told me the other day that he’s the only kid out of 25 in his class that’s lefty- how odd.

I read about a study (Russian, I don’t know how much credibility to give it) a couple months ago that said that more people are being born left-handed, and it’s because we are more perfect, so the human race is evolving to be lefties. If that’s true, yay! It also said that lefties were more likely to excel in language arts, to have extrasensory perception, and to be successful in politics.

Heh. My left-handed father gives the lie to all this stuff about lefties being superior, but I love him anyway.

Question: do y’all “hook” your hands around to write? I ask this because my father doesn’t. Only left-handed person I’ve seen so far who holds his hand straight when writing.

I’ve had university classes with as many as four lefties in a class of only twenty-five or so, which seems to be an unusually high concentration.

I don’t do the hook, I write straight across the page–and usually end up with the outside of my hand covered in ink because of it.

Me too, I actually carry a Parker Pen with me most of the time as the ink dries very fast and I don’t end up with this problem.

Me too (not the hook, the inky hand).
I HATE that.

Luckily I almost never write on paper anymore - my laptop is basically attached to my hip
