Legal but Unethical?

What I’m finding funny is that not only every church in the area is running a program to help the victims but every bar is, too. Some of us have associations with NO that have nothing to do with religion and I’m glad the barflies are helping take care of their own.

Do those of you who support the idea believe that many fundamentalists would support having their donations go to mosques? Would Arabs want their contributions going to synagogues?

Keep in mind that there is no indication on the website that the money is being used in this way. What about informed consent?

Shouldn’t the houses of worship be giving just as other organizations are? If they choose not to give, that is their right. But why are they receiving unless they have promised, as Grits has suggested, to put that money right back into helping the evacuees?

John Carter, to add even more confusion to the mix: I don’t go to church anymore – or, at least I haven’t in a long time.

Grits, the donation that I made was to an organization founded on religious principles. But if I had chosen something other than the Salvation Army or a house of worship, would that mean that wanted to deny the money to the people who need it? Then why would I donate?

What is to keep that money from going into the production of a film promoting bigotry against another religious faith, for example? I know that such films are shown in some fundamental churches. What is to keep that money from being used for purposes that you might consider unholy?
