Legal hypothetical, I know, YANAL...

Let’s say that I produce a document that you are willing to sign and date without reservation. For this example, I’ll say that I asked you to sign a form that contracts you to work for me every Wednesday, for at least 8 hours, every Wednesday. You sign and date a document that says that you are obliged (contractually) to work at least 8 hours every Wednesday.

At some point, I ask you to work on Sundays. You state that you cannot, nor have ever been able to, work on any Sunday. I produce a document that shows that you are available to work on Sundays. This is a document that you have never seen before, and is comprised of a copy of your signature, and an availability request that shows you being available every Sunday.

I copied and pasted your signature into the new document that I wanted you to sign, the rest of the document was edited/created by myself and my staff.

Did I break a law?

I can’t even imagine what sort of law you think might have been broken by making this document and showing it to me. Using that document in any number of ways might violate the law, but that would be a different issue.

Is this about the same situation that you described here?

Yes. Since I didn’t get an answer to my question about the legality of my situation, I thought I might try an abstract approach.

Actually, you didn’t like the answer to your question which suggested you contact a lawyer. Closed.
