Just interested in knowing who else reads court cases for fun without any professional/academeic reason. I keep a close eye on bailii and especially look out for court cases that are in the news over here. I find it interesting to see the “true story” behind cases as reported (and it regularly disgusts me how misrepresented things are).
Also, there are loads of very interesting cases where somethin strange has gone on - it’s fun to see what strange or desperate people have done.
Anyone else have this kind of hobby? I’m not reading to keep up with case law, you understand. It’s just for unusual situations.
I follow Groklaw and occasionally jump from there to other court-related sites. Usually, I read the analysis, but occasionally I read particularly juicy transcripts for myself. I also pick up on cases that are related to my interests and follow those a bit–especially if someone involved has impressed or annoyed me in the past. (I read the transcript of Jack Thompson’s bar hearing with some relish.)
