Legal Q about advancement in medical science

Lets say someone is blinded by something and sues and wins a large cash award as it is assumed to be a lifetime condition.

But what happens if medical science can come up with a way to reverse that, perhaps stem cells can cause the eyes to regenerate? And now this person can see? Is there any legal provisions for 1: decreasing the amount? 2: increasing the amount to cover the needed medical expenses for the procedure?

Nope. Res judicata.
