My local video store is having a contest to help a local children’s charity. The sign says, “Buy a ticket, win a DVD player, and help a child.” Does this mean that because I bought a ticket I am guaranteed by the store a DVD player and that a child will be helped since the sign says these things will happen?
What would a reasonable man think about the DVD player question?
Let’s see as I recall from law school that reasonable guy is somewhere in Iowa-not sure how to find him. Monkeypants answered w/the resonable man test & he’s right- I don’t think an offer is being made & hence no contract.
Think you got a sure thing, huh? Maybe their sign was too small and should have read: “Buy a ticket, [get a chance to] win a DVD player, and [the proceeds from ticket sales will] help a child.” I’m sure the store manager will explain the intent of the sign if you ask.
