Legal Question: Adopted Dog Sick

Thanks for the happy update!

<Small hijack, for which I, Waltzes, apologize>

JcWoman, I for one would very much like to hear your experiences and advice re retired greyhounds. My grannie always had a greyhound and/or a whippet (sometime both) when I was a child and, presently being dogless with a large suburban yard, those are two breeds I’ve thought about adopting. Maybe the discussion should be in another thread?

<Hijack ended. We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic along with hearty good wishes for the OP’s adorable puppy’s continued improvement.>

Yay!!!

Yay healthy puppy!

You know that there are backyard breeders and careless dog owners who don’t actually abuse their animals, right?

All my pets have come from shelters, partly because a lot of the “responsible” breeders… You know what, this isn’t the pit, and I’ll just so and say that the one time i acquired a pet from a “responsible” breeder i learned when i picked up my kitten that the cats all lived in cages. I’ve had several pets from an animal that wasn’t spayed in time who had better lives.

YAAASSS! I’m so happy! He’s a lucky little pup who has a great family! I’m sure all your hard work made the difference, AngelSoft. Congrats and Happy Mother’s Day!

I guess what really annoys me about this thread is the OP bought a puppy from a disreputable source, therefore encouraging animal abuse, and despite the problems ensuing, his experience may encourage others to do the same. It’s great the puppy is recovering, but it would be even better if he didn’t have to get sick in the first place. Which, if the OP had gotten a puppy from a reputable source, almost certainly wouldn’t have happened. And not one poster has asked about the welfare of the pup’s parents.

If she had gotten the puppy from a reputable source, that puppy may still have gotten sick. Parvo is EVERYWHERE and you can’t vaccinate for it until they are 12 weeks old. At our shelter which is very clean, we won’t even let puppies younger than 6 months out in the dirt/grass play yards for fear of parvo…and sometimes they still get parvo.

The fact is, she didn’t. She got the puppy where she got it. What do you want her to do about it now? Get rid of it? Apologize to you personally? What are you doing about backyard breeders in your area? What are you doing to help the homeless dog situation and over population crisis in your area?

I guess what really annoys me is people who criticize others, but aren’t doing anything about the problem themselves.

You have had far more than your say on the subject at this point. If you want to continue discussing your feelings about pet purchasing leading to animal abuse, feel free to start your own thread. But don’t bring it up any further in this thread.

:slight_smile:

I’m glad to hear the little guy is doing so well.

Thanks for the pupdate.
