Legality & effectiveness of anti spam/junk fax tactics

After getting a piece of spam on my cellphone I was wondering about the following methods to fight such unwanted items.

If they give a toll free number, set up my fax for 999 retries and write a letter to be faxed requesting not to be contacted. The fax will most likely be sent to a opperator answerered line., If it does go through it will just once and stop retrying. This way they must pay for multiple toll free calls.

What is the legality of this method? what is the cost to the company per call?

For spam that lists a web site, I would think the only way to effectivly fight this is to try a denial of service attack, try to flood their page with requests. If this becomes popular then anyone getting such spam could also join in creating a distrubuted denial of service attack and removing their page from the web exactly when they need it up for the 2 suckers who buy their ink refill cartrages.

Again what it the legality of this method? I assume it would be fairly easy to have a convinent program to lanch such an attack.

Tip of the day: never ask a legal question without stating the jurisdiction, or else any answers you get will probably be completely useless. For all we know, you’re posting from Bhutan, which probably doesn’t have any fax-spam laws at all, let alone more than a dozen fax machines.
